In preparation for the opening of the new Waskasoo School this fall, Penhold Town Council has approved an expansion of the school zone on Waskasoo Avenue.
The zone now stretches further south past the middle school to add safety for students, families and drivers. Community Peace Officers will begin enforcing the new boundaries on Sept. 2, the first day of the 2025–26 school year.
“Penhold Waskasoo Middle School is an exciting addition to our community, and with it comes the responsibility to ensure our students can travel to and from school safely,” said Penhold Mayor Mike Yargeau.

Penhold school zones are in effect on school days during the following times:
-
8:00 a.m. – 9:30 a.m.
-
11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.
-
3:00 p.m. – 4:30 p.m.
Motorists to pay close attention to posted signs, reduce their speed, and remain vigilant in and around school zones.
The town says these efforts will help keep children, families, and staff safe throughout the school year.
