The Swift Current Museum has wrapped up its summer programming schedule for the year.
With different themes each week, and a total of 31 days of family-centric educational fun, the Museum is looking back at all the fun had.
Crystal Ljunggren, education coordinator for the Museum, was thrilled to host over 740 children and their families during the summer.
"It was a fantastic summer," said Ljunggren. "We also had 100 families come in on Ranger (the buffalo)'s (74th) birthday on August 15th."
Ljunggren says kids were able to enjoy themes such as Dinosaur Week, Heritage and History Week, and Bugs and Butterflies Week.
The kids and their parents were able to enjoy not only learning together, but following along with arts and crafts, scavenger hunts, and projects like building a Rube Goldberg Machine.
"I think it's super important to really get kids out and engaged," said Ljunggren. "Then, if they ask any questions, they are intrigued and engaged. Then the more they want to do, the more they learn. Anything to spark the imagination."
The success of this year's programming has Ljunggren already looking ahead to next year.
"I have a lot of big plans," said Ljunggren. Especially during the weeks I know will be fun and engaging."
She plans to not only keep children enthralled with activities and programming, but also to make sure it is enjoyable for parents.
"Because a lot of the time when the children come in, the parents would like to do some of the activities as well," said Ljunggren. "And why not bring them all in and really have them excited to come back as well?"
