Early yield estimates for winter wheat range from 40-60 bu/acre in drier areas to 60-90 bu/acre in areas that received more moisture. Fall rye yields range from 60-90 bu/acre, with some as high as 135 bu/acre.  The Spring wheat harvest has started in all regions of the province. Early yield estimates range from 45 to 75 bu/acre.

Meantime, there's a lot of variability in the canola crop this year due to the long seeding window. Late-seeded canola is just finished flowering. Early seeded canola is now being harvested in the Central region with preliminary yields running 45 to 55 bu/acre.  Flax is changing colour as flax bolls start to fill. Sunflowers are flowering with the majority in the R5 stage.

This week's report shows field peas are in the R6 to R7 stage with desiccation underway. Some off the early seeded fields have been harvested with the average yield coming in around 60 bu/acre.  Soybean development continues with the majority in the R5 stage, and the most advanced fields at the R6 stage.
