The first day of school for Weyburn students is coming up on Tuesday, September 2nd. With back-to-school comes an overfilled backpack of school supplies needed for the whole school year.
Legacy Park Elementary School is continuing a tradition started last year - a Supplies Drop-off, this Friday, August 29th, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
"We'll be following the same procedures that were in place last year. The gym will be set up with tables, and they'll be labeled with each student's homeroom classroom teacher that they're assigned to," said Principal Ronda Casavant.
She said if parents aren't sure which teacher's classroom their child will be in for the school year, the school will ensure their master list is on-hand.
"We'll help parents get any backpacks they would like to drop off on Friday. We will be available to help out parents get everything organized and situated in the gym, and then it's all in one place."
Casavant said there is no obligation to leave the backpacks at the school, as those might be needed for lunches, water bottles, or even for extra last-minute supplies. In that case, a grocery bag will be fine for containing all of the tools needed for classroom learning.
"It's all about just helping accommodate families," she added. "If everything is too heavy for them to carry on their own on that first day, then there's this option to stop by and drop things off."
