This month’s Perfect Pet Contest brought us a wonderful mix of cats and dogs, but in the end, it was one mischievous little kitten who stole the spotlight. Congratulations to Garbanzo and his family for taking home the title of August’s Perfect Pet!

Garbanzo is a three-month-old kitten adopted from the Estevan Humane Society who already has a knack for mischief, and plenty of charm. His owner, Lezlie, shared how his unique name came to be:
“That was actually the name that my 7-year-old came up with. It took us weeks to figure out a name that everybody would agree on in our house, and that was the name everybody finally settled on.”
As for whether he responds to it? Lezlie laughed:
“No, he's just more interested in food and he's pretty just into causing mischief and all of that fun kitten stuff.”
But when it came to choosing him, there was no hesitation.
“Well, I had been kind of going back and forth with the idea of getting another kitten. And then when I went there, I had met a few of them and some of them weren't going to work out or whatever. And then when I was showed Garbanzo, I knew that that was the one that was coming home with us.”
