Red Deer Public Schools is welcoming students back to the classroom on Tuesday (September 2), marking the start of the 2025/2026 school year.
Since Monday (August 25), staff have been busy preparing classrooms and schools for another exciting year of teaching and learning.
This fall, the Division is welcoming 11,432 students, along with 34 new teachers, 22 of whom are beginning their teaching careers.
Red Deer Public Schools is continuing its priorities aligned with the Alberta Education Assurance Domain, which include student growth and achievement; teaching and leading; learning supports; governance; and local and societal context.
To guide these priorities, the Board of Trustees is launching regular online engagement opportunities throughout the school year.
“Hearing directly from our students, staff, families and community is essential,” says Nicole Buchanan, Board Chair for Red Deer Public Schools. “We’re committed to building strong connections through regular engagements, and to using what we learn to guide our decisions in meaningful ways.”
Buchanan adds that she is optimistic about the year ahead, “The start of a new school year always brings excitement and possibility,” she says. “Our Board is proud to support the important work happening in our classrooms across the Division, and we look forward to celebrating the successes and growth of our students and staff this year.”
