Some wastewater main replacement work in Diamond Valley will cause a road to be closed for almost two months.

The Town of Diamond Valley contracted UG Excavating Ltd. to complete the Frontenac Wastewater Main Replacement Project, with the work taking place on Frontenac Avenue, between Main Street and George Street.

This work will replace the existing wastewater main, repave the roadway to the lip of the gutter, and reconnect sanitary services, which is essential work to improve service reliability and renew aging infrastructure.

The work will begin on Sept. 2, and they anticipate the work will be done by Oct. 31, with crews working 7:30 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday to Saturday.

While the work is happening, Frontenac Avenue will be fully closed to through-traffic, but there will be a detour in place.

On-street parking will also be restricted on Frontenac Avenue for the duration of the project.

Alternative parking will be available on nearby side streets and at the pool parking lot on Main Street.

The laneway access will remain open, and garbage collection will be temporarily relocated to the laneway while the work is in progress.

The Hubert Street intersection will reopen with a gravel surface once the underground work is completed.
