It's going to be a hot long weekend in the Foothills, with plenty to do.

It will be hovering around 30 above all weekend, with plenty of sunshine. 

Let's take a look at what people can get up to this weekend:

Friday, August 29:

At the Environmental Education Centre in Okotoks, this week's Nature Fridays event will celebrate Solar Day. As part of this, youth will get a hands-on way to explore the power of the sun from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The Okotoks Art Gallery has their summer exhibits on display, which everyone can check out for free. One exhibit is the Colour Your World exhibit, which encourages children to pick up a crayon and start colouring, while the other is the Member Show and Sale. These exhibits will be up until Sept. 4.

Over in the parking lot of the Viking Rentals Centre, the Okotoks Farmers' Market will happen from 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. and people will be selling fresh food, treats, and more.

The Town of Okotoks is celebrating the long weekend with free movies in Ethel Tucker Park. They will be showing two movies (Shanghai Noon and A League of Their Own), with the first one starting at 6:30 p.m.

In High River, they are celebrating Alberta Day with Alberta Concert Day in George Lane Park from 7 to 10 p.m. This will be an evening of live music, community spirit, and family-friendly fun.

Friday nights are Youth Night at the Okotoks Rec Centre, and anyone under the age of 18 is able to enjoy the Rec Centre pool and gymnasium until 10 p.m., and the Youth Centre until 11 p.m.

Saturday, August 30:

In Longview, the Longview Country Market happens every Saturday until Sept. 27, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The exhibits at the Okotoks Art Gallery are on display for all to see and enjoy.

The Okotoks Elks Club hosts a perogy lunch and meat draw on Saturdays, with lunch served at noon.

As part of the Venue Summer Series in High River, the John Hewitt Band will be hitting the stage at 7 p.m. John Hewitt is a master storyteller.

Sunday, August 31:

As part of Bandstand Sundays in High River, there will be an afternoon of reflection, music, celebration, and cake, as Bandstand Sundays is turning 20 years old.

Monday, September 1:

Savour the last days of summer in Diamond Valley at the pool. The Dr. Lander Memorial Swimming Pool is hosting a Labour Day Pool Party and Toonie Swim to help wrap up the season in style. The party will be from 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
