Alberta Day celebrates the day our province became a province.

It was Sept. 1st, 1905, which makes it 120 years ago this September, Alberta has been here.

The Town of High River is celebrating with a free concert, including a local 13-year-old future Country star from Millarville.

Amelia Paquette is opening up the free concert put on by the town on Friday night at George Lane Memorial Park.

She's really looking forward to it, and surprisingly, she's only been singing and playing for a year.

"I've been working on some Lainey Wilson songs, some Fleetwood Mac, and some other country artists' songs."

She was very humble when asked he she got started.

"Well, when I was little, I would sing a lot, and then when I turned 12, I decided to pick up a guitar and teach myself and sing a song for my mom's birthday."

The song she played was 'Till I Can't' by Cody Johnson.

Yes, you read that right, she's self-taught on the guitar.  It sounds like a very promising future lies ahead for this young talent.

You can see her perform this Friday night, starting at 7 p.m., and she has 30 to 45 minutes to play before the headliner takes over.

Memphis and The Grande are the headline band, and they'll be performing until 10 p.m.  They're a seasoned Country Rock act.

The event is free; just bring your lawn chairs or blanket and bug spray.
