Crop Residue Burning Restrictions in Manitoba
From Friday, August 1 to Saturday, November 15, 2025, crop residue burning is not authorized in the following municipalities except by permit:
- Rosser
- Headingley
- St. François Xavier
- Cartier
- Macdonald
- Ritchot
- Taché
- Springfield
- East St. Paul
- West St. Paul
Additionally, for Thursday, August 28, 2025, crop residue burning is prohibited across all municipalities and zones in Manitoba due to poor ventilation conditions. Burning is only permitted with a valid permit.

Important Notes:
- Burning in designated “Burning Permit Areas” requires a permit issued by Economic Development, Investment, Trade and Natural Resources.
- Burning within the City of Winnipeg requires a permit from the City of Winnipeg.
- Check with your local RM office for any additional restrictions.
Year-round Restrictions:
- Nighttime burning of crop residues is strictly prohibited.
Safe Burning Practices:
- Always use proper fire-guarding and supervision.
- Smoke must not obscure public roadways or cause issues for nearby residents.
