The community of Weyburn helped DiscoverWeyburn and the City of Weyburn with a successful new tradition this summer: Great Plains Taste of Summer Charity Barbecues, which we held every other Thursday throughout July and August.
In all, our supporters helped us raise more than $4,200 for five local organizations simply by purchasing a $3 lunch of a hot dog, chips, and a drink.
Inclusion Weyburn's mission is to build and inspire an inclusive Weyburn and area by empowering and valuing people with diverse needs and abilities. At our event on July 3rd, Weyburn helped us raise $769 for the organization.
The Weyburn Legion is an advocacy group and supporter of veterans, city police, RCMP, and firefighters. On July 17th, Weyburn helped us sell out of food, raising $1,007.75 for the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #47.

The CMHA Weyburn branch, whose mission is to support and promote the rights of people living with mental illness to maximize their full potential, as well as enhance the mental health and well-being of our community, was shown outstanding community support on July 31st, with a total of $854.25.

The Weyburn Humane Society helps with stray animals and offers adoptions, and, as a non-profit organization, they receive no funds from the provincial or federal levels. The community helped us help the animals on August 14th by having lunch and raising a total of $764.35.

Just yesterday, August 28th, we held our final barbecue in support of the Weyburn Salvation Army, raising $897 to go directly to the Food Bank, which provides food for 50 to 60 households a week.
