Sixteen-year-old golfer Logan Cairns fired his best-ever tournament round to win the Stride Credit Union Junior Open at the Portage Golf Club.
The event took place Thursday, August 28, with Cairns posting a four-under 66 to finish well ahead of the field.
Cairns notes, “It feels pretty good, especially since I played my best round ever in a tournament.”

The Grade 11 student mentions his score of 66 came together thanks to consistent play throughout the day.
"Everything was on, I didn’t miss much,” he commented. "Greens were a little hard. They were pretty fast, so that was good, and they rolled good.”
This is Cairns’ first Junior Open title. Earlier in the month, he claimed Portage's junior club championship.
