The Labour Day Long Weekend is here, officially heralding the end of summer and the return to fall for many. As the seasons shift, the summer heat is holding on for a few more days, with the current 30-degree temperatures sticking around.

Environment and Climate Change Canada Meteorologist Crawford Luke gives the forecast for the extended end-of-August weekend.

"For the most part, it looks like it's gonna be a continuation of the kind of weather we've been seeing the last few days, so it looks like we're just gonna continue to be quite hot, especially in the daytime. A little bit shy of our heat warning criteria, for that we need highs of 32 and lows of 16, so we're just shy of that, mostly at night, but it's still pretty hot regardless."

conditions will be summer-like with plenty of sun, though Luke says that may not stick around through the entire weekend.

"Probably a lot of sunshine as well. Could see a few clouds kind of make their way in later today and then again on Saturday afternoon, so there is like a very, very slight chance of an isolated shower too, but for the most part it looks like the long weekend's going to be hot and dry."

As the weekend concludes, Luke says that we'll get into some cooler fall weather and may see some rain in the area.

"On Monday, it looks like a cold front's going to come down from the north, so we'll have to keep an eye on that, but that's going to lead to some cooler temperatures next week."

"We might see a few days, Tuesday, Wednesday, with some isolated showers. I know right now we just have it in the forecast for Tuesday, but it might linger into Wednesday as well, and then I guess the other thing we might have to keep an eye on is like another potential risk of frost if that's concerning to anyone growing vegetables or farmers in those sort of communities."

Luke encourages people to get out and enjoy the long weekend weather as summer comes to an end.
