It was back at the end of May that Celebrate Summer kicked off, and once the Bull Bash hit in MacGregor, it was full on for three straight months.
Between the online entries here and people entering at the fairs and festivals we attended, thousands of names were collected. For the finale, we drew 100 lucky contestants who joined us at Dufresne Furniture and Appliances, Portage Friday to see who the lucky winners would be.

One hundred was paired down to 50 and then to 25 at which point everyone was assigned a lucky number. Ten lucky balls were drawn and if people had that number, they won one of the prizes on hand. But it was the grand prize everyone wanted - a design your own living room package from Dufresne Furniture and Appliances, Portage.
Brynn Irwin and Tammy Ostapowich were the final two and Ostapowich ended up the grand finale winner.

"I've never won anything like this. There's a need for it, I've never designed a whole room at once. Incredible. What a lucky win."
Ostopowich will now head down to Dufresne in September, where she will choose a sofa and love seat or a sectional, 1 coffee table, 2 end tables, 1 rug, 2 throw pillows and 2 lamps of her choice.
Irwin didn't leave empty handed with the second place finish. She took home a patio furniture set and heater, along with some other goodies from 4H Manitoba.

Prizes were also handed out from Shewfellt's Plumbing and Heating along with Interlake Auto and Tractor Parts and no one went away thirsty with water on hand from Blue Moon Water, Portage.
While Celebrate Summer is certainly winding down, there are still several things to come like Fun With Family Day at Our Farm Greenhouses Saturday, the Ashern Rodeo this weekend and the Honey Garlic, Maple Syrup Festival in Maniotu next weekend. MacGregor has a big community celebration in mid-September as well.
