Rocky View County has issued a fire advisory, banning all permit burning due to dry and windy conditions. The county says all outstanding burning and fireworks permits are suspended until further notice.

Certain exceptions remain in effect, including indoor household fireplaces, farm and acreage incinerators, burning barrels, camp stoves, solid fuel and propane or natural gas barbecues, wood pellet grills, chimineas, and recreational campfires in approved burn pits no larger than 24 inches in diameter. Fires contained within designated camping or recreational facilities are also allowed. Oil well flaring must be registered with central fire dispatch at 403-264-1022.

Residents can check the status of fire bans and advisories through the Alberta Fire Bans website, the county’s Fire Ban Information Line at 403-520-6310, the Safe & Sound program, and the county website.

Officials are urging residents to exercise caution and comply with the advisory to prevent wildfires.
