The Weyburn Branch of the Canadian Mental Health Association welcomed book lovers to their Ashford Street headquarters for a three-day indoor book sale this week.
The total raised from this event is just over $1,300.
Program Director Tasha Collins said all of the books were donated by Blue Earth Environmental, and then transported and set up by the CMHA Vocational crew.
Since 2015, Blue Earth has helped the CMHA Weyburn branch raise $8,500. This includes the spring book sales held outside of the Blue Earth store on Third Street during Mental Health Week.
All of the funds raised through the book sales remain at the branch and go toward local programming, which includes social and recreational as well as vocational programs.
Their programs are open to everyone.
"A person does not have to have a diagnosed mental illness to attend our programming," Collins told Discover Weyburn in a previous interview.
"We all live with things that affect our mental health. Historically, yes, we would get referrals from the health authority and maybe other different community agencies, however, people can self-refer, so if somebody is interested in just finding a place to belong, having some engagement, having a place where you can go and just be yourself and engage in different activities and maybe something that aligns with your interests, certainly a person could come by and we'd find a way to get them fit into our programming."
