Over 300 lemonade stands have been popping up across the province for the CancerCare Manitoba Foundation this summer for the Lemonade Stands for Hope fundraiser campaign.  This is the third year the Foundation has invited residents to host a lemonade stand to raise awareness and funds for cancer research and to help support cancer victims and their families through CancerCare Manitoba.

"It's been so busy this year and it's been absolutely wonderful! We've had over 300 stands pop up across the province, which is the highest number we've ever had. And they've really been all over the province, people of all ages doing really unique and creative things to host their own lemonade stand and raise funds for Manitobans with cancer," shares Laura Curtis, Director of Marketing & Communications for the CancerCare Manitoba Foundation.

There's still time to register for your lemonade kit for 2025!

Curtis says it's not too late to still register for a Lemonade Kit to raise money this summer and there are still 2 months left of potentially beautiful weather to share a cool glass of lemonade and raise funds for CancerCare.  And it's been a great way for kids to get involved in fundraising for CancerCare as well, whether they have a family member or a friend or neighbor who's been touched by cancer.

It's been great fun to see all the pictures of all the lemonade stands coming in with so many great ideas, and ways to raise money, says Curtis.   "We have seen so much creativity this summer because of course people are selling lemonade but other things as well. There was one stand that sold crocheted lemons, little lemons! There are people who do baking or make bracelets, so it's really a great way to get creative for adults and for kids!"

It's a really great way for whole families, and whole communities to get involved with raising money for Cancer Care Foundation.

"And it's really neat because you see all different groups, right? You see siblings. I've seen groups of friends that come together to host the stand in support of one of their parents. There are grandparents doing it. Coworkers will set up a stand and do it at their office. Like, there's just endless ways to get involved," shares Curtis.

Visit the CJRB / Discover Westman 'Lemonade Stands for Hope' this Sunday at the Dunrea Flea Market at the Boissevain Ag Grounds!  Come and say 'Hi!' and give yourself a cool, sweet treat for any size of donation.

All funds raised remain in Manitoba and are directed to CancerCare Manitoba

These contributions support initiatives that are not covered by government funding, including cancer research, access to new and improved treatments, and various aspects of patient care—both emotional and physical.

The funds also help sustain support programs for individuals with cancer and their families. These programs are vital, as many of the services offered by CancerCare Manitoba would not be possible without this financial support.

Laura Curtis says their one of their goals was to reach 300 lemonade stands this summer and they've exceeded that, which is thrilling.

"I think last year we were around 250. So, it's quite a big jump and we're really happy. Last year we raised around $250,000, so I'm hoping to meet or exceed that again. We really try to focus on the number of stands because you know what, it doesn't really matter if your stand raises $100 or $1000, it's all really important."
