Central Alberta athletes played a leading role in Team Canada’s impressive performance at the 2025 IWWF World Waterski Championships in Recetto, Italy, where Canada earned multiple medals, world titles, and a second-place finish in the Team Overall standings.

Innisfail’s Dorien Llewellyn captured the Men’s Overall World Champion title, showcasing consistency across all three disciplines and sealing his victory with a bronze-medal jump.

Olds's athlete Ryan Dodd added to Canada’s medal count in Men’s Jump, soaring 70.1 metres (230 feet) to secure silver.

Llewellyn followed closely with a jump of 69.9 metres (229 feet), earning bronze.

The Championships, held August 26 to 31, brought together more than 180 athletes from over 30 countries.

Throughout the week, Canadians delivered standout results, with several athletes achieving personal bests or performances near their peak.

Canada’s strong showing across every discipline ultimately secured the team a silver medal overall, reaffirming the nation’s position as one of the world’s top waterskiing countries.
