Starting tomorrow (September 3) the downtown Red Deer RCMP detachment will extend its customer service hours every Wednesday to give residents more flexibility in accessing in-person services.

The new hours of operation are:

  • Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday: 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

  • Wednesday: 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.

  • Closed: Saturdays, Sundays and statutory holidays

“We’re offering extended hours on Wednesdays to provide better customer service for in-person reporting of crimes and collisions as well as picking up Criminal Record Checks,” said Allan Gray, Municipal Enforcement Supervisor. “While many of our services are available online, there are a few matters requiring in-person reporting.”

Services that require an in-person visit include retrieving found items or returned exhibits, completing a declaration of loss, and certain customer service tasks that cannot be handled online.

Residents are reminded that several minor crimes can still be reported online, provided the incident is not in progress, there are no suspects, and it wasn’t captured on surveillance or directly witnessed. Eligible reports include:

  • Damage or mischief to property under $5,000

  • Theft under $5,000 (including from a vehicle or of a bicycle)

  • Lost property under $5,000

For lost or stolen items involving identification, firearms, license plates, or medication, residents are advised to call the RCMP’s non-emergency line at 403-406-2200.

That line can also be used to report suspicious vehicles or people, noise complaints, fraud, and hit-and-runs with a suspect.
