The forecast for the first week back to school is looking bright after the overcast start to Tuesday.

Kids will be able to walk to school with a cooler start in the mornings, with daytime highs peaking in the low 20s, probably only hitting 22 at the highest.

According to Dan Fulton, meteorologist with Environment and Climate Change Canada, there isn't too much to worry about in the week ahead as far as weather.

"Looking fairly dry, but smoke might be an issue for much of the week," said Fulton. "We're kind of in either northerly winds or kind of light winds."

The wildfire smoke may require kids to avoid too much time outside during recess, as the air quality will be negatively impacted.

Fulton is hopeful that the earlier rains up north will have quelled the worst of the fires and that cooler temperatures will help to keep them from flaring back up to full strength.

"Right now, we're looking at visibility in Swift Current, and it's as little as five miles in smoke to the north," said Fulton. "But I am hoping it won't be as bad as it was earlier this summer."
