Today, Airdrie councillor Tina Petrow announced that she is running for mayor in the upcoming municipal election.
"I have been thinking about this decision for a while, and I have decided to step forward and put my name forward for mayor in the upcoming election."
Petrow explained that her full campaign will be launched on September 13. She also shared that she is filing her papers today.
"I feel that I have built up a good relationship with our community, and I am hoping to have a great, open line of communication with the community, make sure that they they know what's going on at City Hall."
Earlier today, Airdrie Mayor Peter Brown announced that he is not running for re-election. Petrow is grateful for Brown's guidance over the past two terms of her having a Councillor role.
"Thank you for his service. I've learned so much from Peter over the last eight years, I'm very grateful to him for his mentorship."

There are several Airdronians who have filed their notice of intent to run in the upcoming election.
The Airdrie Municipal Election will take place on October 20.
