Ron Chapman has announced that he is seeking re-election as a councillor for the upcoming municipal election.

In a press release to DiscoverAirdrie, having lived in this community for 47 years and served on Council for 15, he remains committed to applying a steady, common-sense approach to managing growth and addressing the needs of our city.

"Over the last four years, I have been proud to work with Council and Administration to move forward with key projects that will benefit Airdrie for decades to come. We have balanced strong growth with responsible decision-making, keeping our city safe, affordable, and vibrant."

In his press release, he shared Council Achievements in the Past Four Years and his goals for the next four.

Council achievements in the past four years:

  • Planning underway for the South West Recreation Centre
  • Completion of the 40th Ave Overpass
  • Opening of Phase 1 of the North East Regional Park
  • Opening of Inspire, a multi-use community hub and future home of the Airdrie Public Library
  • Construction of the fourth fire hall to serve our growing northeast
  • Design completion and upcoming construction of the wastewater pipeline connection to Calgary
  • Maintaining one of the lowest municipal tax rates in Alberta
  • Keeping Airdrie among the safest cities in the province, with one of Alberta’s lowest Crime Severity Index ratings

His priorities for the next four years:

  • Open and Transparent Government – ensuring Council decisions are clear, accountable, and well-communicated to residents
  • Community Safety – maintaining strong RCMP, Municipal Enforcement, and Fire Services to keep pace with growth
  • Inclusive and Welcoming City – preserving Airdrie’s community spirit and pride as it continues to grow
  • Smart Planning for Future Growth – managing development responsibly as one of Alberta’s fastest-growing cities
  • Affordable Housing – working with Airdrie Housing and the Rocky View Foundation to expand affordable housing options for all residents, including seniors
