Two vehicles were involved in a traffic accident last Wednesday at the intersection of Government Road and Highway 39. A vehicle heading west on the highway failed to stop at the red light and collided with a vehicle travelling on Government Road.

The Weyburn Police Service attended the scene of the collision. Deputy Chief Shane St. John says the driver was not paying attention causing them to go through the red light, no other factors were at play.

“The driver was just not paying attention and went through the red light striking another vehicle. Usually, your speed can be a little faster at that area as well, so both vehicles were totaled off."

"[The Weyburn Fire Department] did come out and assist, which we're thankful for."

Despite both vehicles being totaled and requiring towing from the scene, no injuries were reported. The at-fault vehicle was charged for disobeying a red light.
