Several conservation groups have joined forces to lead a pasture tour in southwest Saskatchewan, coming up on September 13.

The Nature Conservancy of Canada, the Southwest Sheep Pasture, Nature Saskatchewan, and Birds Canada will delve into the history of the area, land management strategies, and identify local fauna and flora from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Kayla Burak, engagement manager for the Nature Conservancy of Canada, shared that they'll meet at the Jasper Hotel's community hall before heading to the well-known Southwest Sheep Pasture, located outside of Maple Creek.

"We're going to have a little open house in Maple Creek with all the organizations and some elders from Nekaneet First Nation," she said. "Then we're going to go on a tour of the Sheep Pasture with Tyler, the pasture manager there.

"It's going to be an incredible opportunity to meet new people in the area, other like-minded people, and tour one of the most unique areas in Saskatchewan."

Anyone looking for more information can visit the Nature Conservancy of Canada's website or check them out on social media.

"People will get all the information when they register," added Burak. "The easiest way the register would be to email myself."

Those interested can register for the upcoming pasture tour up until September 8 by emailing kayla.burak@natureconservancy.ca, obo@naturesask.ca, or by calling (306) 780-9833.
