Preseason hockey action will see the Swift Current Broncos taking on the Regina Pats on Wednesday night, all while supporting MyCityCare Swift Current.
Entry to the game will be in exchange for a cash donation of $5 or with a donation of a non-perishable food item. These donations will be used to construct emergency care packages.
Tom Weppler, director of MyCityCare Swift Current, describes the emergency care packages as a hamper that goes to individuals or families in need.
"They are available to all who are in need," said Weppler. "People can request a hamper through MyCityCare on Facebook, and we will do our best to meet that need."
If anyone would like to help with MyCityCares efforts outside of the Bronco game, they are encouraged to speak with a member at the game or to reach out on Facebook. Also, if anyone would like to make a donation directly to the group, they are open to that as well.
"(Our website) is a very simple setup," said Weppler. "You can click on donate today and choose Swift Current MyCityCare."
Any donation made online will have a taxable receipt immediately online.
"We then get a hold of the funds and pass them back into the community," said Weppler.
Weppler expressed gratitude for the Swift Current Broncos organization's offering to run this promotion with MyCityCare.
"And thank you so much to the community for coming around and helping with the needs we see," said Weppler. "And to all the other agencies that are on the front lines trying to do the same thing. We look forward to seeing everyone out at the Broncos game!"
