The Moose Jaw Police Service have arrested and charged a 63-year-old man in relation to a “large-scale online scam.”
Police began investigating the activities of a Moose Jaw resident last year, and a search warrant was executed on Aug. 29.
According to the Moose Jaw Police Service, evidence was found of a large-scale online scam with victims from across Canada.
The scam encouraged victims to send money via e-transfer or wire transfer as part of an online loan application through fraudulent websites.
Timothy Hollinger is facing charges including fraud over $5,000, fraud under $5,000 and money laundering.
Hollinger made his first appearance in Moose Jaw Provincial Court on Tuesday and will remain in custody. His next court appearance is scheduled for Friday.
Police say this file is still ongoing, and officers are working to identify additional victims with assistance from other law enforcement agencies.
If you or someone you know is believed to be a victim of this fraud, you are asked to contact the Moose Jaw Police Service at 306-694-7600.
