For more than a century the Manitoba Registered Music Association has been providing the best in quality music education to music students across the Province of Manitoba.
Despite the challenges that the pandemic has created, students of MRTMA teachers are still enjoying the process of learning music, and are performing. Remote learning over Zoom and social distancing measures have clearly not smothered the fire and desire for students to study music.
Chris Wolf had the opportunity to talk with three students who study with MRMTA teachers. The students chatted with Chris about their chosen instrument and what they have learned from their teachers. They also recorded some holiday music for Chris and the Classic 107 listeners.
Erin Hamblin is a violin student of Rachel Regehr and has been having a great time learning to play the violin with her. Erin graced the Classic 107 airwaves of her rendition of “The First Noel,” joined by her sister Addison on second violin.
Mason Dueck is a long-time student of Winnipeg cello pedagogue Andrea Bell. Andrea is an icon in Winnipeg, known for her excellent teaching as well as her wonderful cello playing. Mason has had a lot of fun studying with her for 10 years. He performed “Coventry Carol” and “God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen” with his sister Emily-Ann on violin.
Leah Hoeppner is a voice student of Tiffany Wilson, and has been studying with her for three years. Leah enjoys singing and studying voice with Tiffany, and finds singing a great release from whatever else is going on around her. Leah performed the John Lennon classic “Happy Christmas” for Classic 107 listeners.
