E. Bourassa & Sons has made a $10,000 'Golden Globe Nominee' contribution to the future Spark Cinema, under construction now thanks to the work being done by the Weyburn Theatre Community Service Cooperative.
Marketing Manager Allyson Van Roon said they had been working on finding a significant way to give back to the theatre project, and they were encouraged by Sandy McCormick of the WTCSC's newly formed fundraising committee.
"The Weyburn Theatre is led by a group of volunteers, and we felt that they've done so much and they were working so hard just to bring back a movie theatre to Weyburn, and it's really not just about movies, it's about places for families to gather, enjoy some entertainment, and keep funds right here in Weyburn, which is what we like to see - the connection, community, and really building something for the next generation."
She said it has been helpful to see the renderings posted of what the new theatre will look like, for those who need them to visualize the double-theatre facility.
The project was announced in 2022 with the formation of the board, and now, the substructure is in place as DSI Contracting continues working on the site of the old Soo Theatre.
