A Sylvan Lake Wrangler has won two awards for his sportsmanship this season.
Justin Gyori earned both his team’s Most Sportsmanlike Player award and the HJHL’s Most Sportsmanlike Award.
According to the Wranglers, the honour recognizes a player who demonstrates character, integrity and sportsmanship without compromising skill or performance.
Gyori has been an offensive leader over the past two seasons, topping the Wranglers in scoring during that time.
In a social media post, the team praised his composure under pressure, even while facing the league’s top defenders.
Gyori scored 60 points this season while taking only two penalties — a statistic the Wranglers say reflects his elite skill, awareness and mental game.
