Estevan Elecs head coach Paul Duncan recently led his team in a memorable exhibition match at Mosaic Stadium against the Sheldon Williams Collegiate Spartans. The game was a valuable opportunity for the Elecs to get their grade nine players acclimated to competitive play at a prestigious venue.

Despite a 34 to 6 loss, Duncan emphasized the positives: “There was a lot of really good points to take away, a lot of positives in it that we can help build on for the rest of the season.” The experience energized the team, with the coach noting how playing at Mosaic inspired players to envision a future where they might play in similar high-profile stadiums someday.

Adding to the excitement, over 200 fans made the trip to Regina to support the Elecs. Duncan extended “a big shout out” to both the Mosaic Stadium staff for their hospitality and to the fans for showing up in such strong numbers.

Looking ahead, the first home game of the season builds toward a three-week stretch of competition: starting in Moose Jaw this Friday against the Central Cyclones, followed by a trip to Yorkton, before returning home to launch a home game three weeks from now.

Upcoming Games

Coach Duncan encouraged continued community support, telling would-be players that “there’s still lots of room… we have a spot for you on the football team.” He celebrated the strong local backing of Estevan, saying, “Estevan always has a tendency to show up and support huge, so let’s cheer these players on.”
