A 32-year-old male has been charged after stealing $10,000 worth of meat in Winnipeg.
Between April 19, 2025 and June 11, 2025, the WPS investigated 11 shoplifting incidents around the city. Through the investigation, officers learned that the male suspect attended the stores and stole over $3,000 worth of merchandise, primarily meat, before fleeing the store.
The Property Crime Unit took over the investigation and identified the suspect.
Along with North District General Patrol officers, the Property Crime Unit located and arrested the suspect on the strength of three warrants on June 21, 2025 at a residence in the 300 block of Atlantic Avenue.
The 32-year-old male has been charged with the following:
- Warrant for Theft Under $5,000 x 11
- Warrant for Fail to Attend Court
- Warrant for Fail to Attend Ident
He was detained in custody.
Following the charges, the same suspect was identified in additional theft between June 30, 2025 and August 31, 2025. WPS had been investigating an additional 20 shoplifting incidents, with over $7,000 worth of stolen meat.
The suspect was arrested just after 11 a.m. on September 2, at a residence in the 300 block of Atlantic Avenue.
He has been charged with the following:
- Warrant for Theft Under $5,000 x 16
- Theft Under $5,000 x 4.
He was detained in custody.
