A 30-year-old male is facing a long list of charges after he was found to be intoxicated while driving late Wednesday night.

Just before 11:30 p.m. on September 3, North District General Patrol officers arrested a man who was intoxicated while driving his vehicle and colliding with two pedestrians, in the 1-99 block of Atlas Crescent.

Through the investigation, it was learned that the suspect had met up with the two other men and began drinking alcohol. The three men got into an argument which led to the suspect getting into his vehicle and speeding toward the two other men. Both men were hit and the suspect fled the scene.

One of the men suffered serious injuries and was transported to the hospital in unstable condition, but has since been upgraded to stable. The other man suffered minor injuries and was transported to hospital in stable condition.

The suspect was found nearby and officers arrested him. He faces the following charges:

  • Operation of a Conveyance Cause Bodily Harm While Impaired to Any Degree by BAC
  • Operation of a Conveyance Cause Bodily Harm While Impaired to Any Degree by BAC or Drug or a Combination of Both
  • Fail to Stop at Scene of Accident Knowing That or Reckless as to Whether they Were Involved in an Accident Cause Bodily Harm
  • Dangerous Operation of a Conveyance
  • Fail or Refuse to Comply with Demand
  • Assault with a Weapon x 2
  • Aggravated Assault

He was released on an Undertaking.

The Traffic Division continue to investigate.
