The Estevan Police Service posted a few recent calls they received mid-week from the local community.
One report described a female yelling in a parking lot of a business in the east end of the city. Officers spoke with the individual, and she was cautioned about her behaviour before being sent on her way.
Officers were present for a well-being check on an elderly family member. Members made contact with the person and determined that he was safe and well.
A report came in of a vehicle swerving in traffic while approaching Estevan, with the subject vehicle located after it entered the city. The driver was found to be sober and was cautioned regarding the observed driving actions.
A wallet was located in the Walmart parking lot and turned in to EPS. Attempts to contact the owner were unsuccessful. The owner may attend the EPS building to claim the wallet.
Police received the laboratory results from blood samples previously obtained during an earlier impaired driving investigation. The results substantiated that the driver had high levels of methamphetamine in his system at the time of driving, and as a result, he was arrested and charged with impaired driving. Members processed the individual, served him the required documents and released him with a future court date to speak to the charge.
EPS received a report of a cell phone that is believed to have been lost somewhere in the community. If anyone locates the cell phone, it can be dropped off at EPS, where attempts will be made to return it to the owner.
A report of theft of cans stored to be recycled was received and is currently under investigation.
A theft of an employee’s jacket from outside a local business was investigated, and the individual who took it was located. He indicated that he thought the item was set out as garbage, and the victim did not wish to proceed with charges, so the subject was released with a warning regarding taking things without permission.
PACT members deployed to a residence at the request of an individual experiencing mental health issues. The individual was spoken to at length and was assisted in implementing coping mechanisms and available resources to deal with their concerns.
A report of a bike that was stolen several days ago was received. The matter remains under investigation.
A report of three males causing a disturbance at a local motel resulted in members attending during night shift, speaking with those involved and escorting one of the individuals off the property.
A complaint of a theft from a business in the east end of the city that occurred in July has resulted in the arrest of a local male for the offence. He was subsequently charged and released and will make an appearance in Estevan Provincial Court at a later date to speak to the matter.
