The Om Yoga Festival is set to take over Rotary Park-Woodlawn Regional Park in Estevan this weekend with a full lineup of activities, workshops, and community connections.
Organizer and Om Yoga Studio owner Kim Mayuk said the event is designed for everyone, regardless of yoga experience. “Our festival begins at 8 am on Saturday morning down at Rotary Park,” she explained. “We have a full day of different practices, workshops, and immersions. The biggest misconception is that you have to be doing yoga for every single class all day long. You can really do as much or as little as you’d like.”
The festival includes everything from aerial yoga and acro partner classes to meditation and history talks. Saturday night wraps up with a yin yoga session, and Sunday closes with a curtain, which Mayuk described as “a musical mantra meditation to leave the festival on a high note.”
In addition to classes, the event features the Omazing Market, free for the public to enjoy. “We have different wellness vendors. A lot of these vendors are from our local community, so come out and support them,” said Mayuk. “Another thing that I should mention is that Winsome Kind is from Alameda and they’re coming to do a musical performance over the lunch hour, which is free.”
Food will also be available on-site with Charlie’s Chuck Wagon offering vegan and vegetarian options. “Something that our community has probably never seen before is food services that offer vegan and vegetarian menus,” Mayuk said. “Their prices are really reasonable and everything looks super delicious.”
The festival is also welcoming internationally recognized yoga teachers Ryan Lear and Danny Hebert from Kelowna, who are ambassadors for Lululemon and are known for their work in community support programs across Canada.
Passes are available online at www.omyogastudio.ca, and drop-in classes are also an option. “Don’t feel like you need to come for the entire weekend,” Mayuk added. “You can just come for a taste and see what it’s all about.”
