Innisfail RCMP had been searching for a high-risk offender who was wanted on outstanding warrants for assault, resist arrest, mischief and possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking.
The offender has failed to appear on his drug trafficking charge on 3 separate occasions.
On Aug. 25, 2025, Innisfail RCMP observed the offender walking in downtown Innisfail. The offender attempted to hide behind a vehicle to avoid detection by police.
Police told the offender that he was under arrest for his outstanding warrants. The offender attempted to flee the area on foot however was again located trying to hide behind the Coffee Cottage restaurant.
As the officer attempted to arrest the offender, he struck the officer numerous times. The offender was able to flee on foot for a 2nd time and ran towards the Innisfail Legion with officers in pursuit.
The offender entered the legion where he was immediately confronted by Legion staff and was promptly arrested by police.
Dakota Caron (22), a resident of Innisfail, has been charged additionally charged with assault on a police officer
A judicial Interim release hearing was held, and Caron was remanded into custody on his outstanding warrants and his new charge.
Caron’s next court appearance is scheduled for Sept. 11, 2025, at the Alberta Court of Justice in Red Deer.
