The International Peace Garden will hold its annual 9/11 Memorial Event on Thursday, September 11 at 11 a.m. at the 9/11 Memorial Site. The event is free to the public and regular gate admission rates resume at noon. Attendees are encouraged to arrive by 10:30 am. Light refreshments will be available to the public after the event. The event will begin at 10:50 am with the Marching of the Flags by the Honour Guard and a military piper, Warrant Officer Brionne Logan of 26th Military Pipers from Brandon, in a procession from the Peace Chapel to the 9/11 Memorial. The ceremony will be opened at 11 am by MC Dwight MacAulay with a welcome from Garden CEO Tim Chapman, followed by the Canadian and US anthems performed by the Bottineau School Choir under the direction of Jaque Marum.

The program will include guest speakers from the U.S. and Canada, the laying of memorial wreaths, a moment of silence, a prayer by Captain Tim Challen of the 26th Field Regiment, and closing remarks by MacAulay.

“This is a day of remembrance and a reminder of the importance of the foundational values of the Garden,” Chapman said. “When we come together across borders to honor those values, we help ensure that peace is not just an aspirational idea, but a long-standing reality and an example to the world of friendship between nations.”
