A 25-year-old man from Brampton, Ont., faces more than a dozen charges after RCMP say he attempted to flee police in a series of stolen vehicles near Maidstone last week.

On Aug. 26 around 2:10 p.m., Saskatchewan RCMP traffic officers responded to reports of an erratic driver on Highway 16 west of Maidstone. Police say the vehicle sped away when officers attempted a traffic stop, driving into and out of ditches before becoming disabled on a grid road.

The driver allegedly fled on foot into a treed area but was arrested after resisting officers. RCMP later determined the car had been stolen in Ontario.

The next morning, officers say they spotted the same suspect attempting to break into a vehicle in Maidstone. He fled on foot before allegedly stealing an SUV from a nearby residence. Police say he refused to stop for officers, drove over a tire deflation device, and later struck a parked vehicle in Marshall.

RCMP allege the suspect then stole a truck, rammed two police vehicles, and fled into a field before becoming stuck. Officers say he resisted arrest again and was subdued with a conducted energy weapon.

Manjinder Singh, 25, has been charged with multiple offences, including flight from a peace officer, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, possession of property obtained by crime, vehicle theft, break and enter, mischief, and failure to comply with a release order.

He remains in custody and is scheduled to appear in Lloydminster Provincial Court on Sept. 4.

Maidstone RCMP were assisted by Combined Traffic Services Saskatchewan, Lloydminster RCMP and the Wilton Police Service.
