With fall beginning, Estevan's Chamber of Commerce is looking at a new season and seeing what that'll bring for the area. Executive Director Merissa Scarlett points to their latest coffee talk, hosting Gordon Moore with the Southeast Techhub, as one of their recent events.
"It was fantastic. We had a good showing considering it's September. It was great. He talked about the upcoming ICED conference. So that's coming up September 23rd and 24th, and he was just talking about why it's important to Estevan and our economic development, what the topics are gonna be and why we should all be there.
The Chamber of Commerce also has an important guest scheduled for October, as Estevan MLA Lori Carr is making an appearance.
"She's also the Minister of mental health and addictions, seniors, and rural and remote health, so she'll be there to provide an update. I know she's had a really busy summer," said Scarlett. "I'm excited to hear more about what she's got going on, and it's a great opportunity for our members to come and just talk to her. If you have questions about what's going on as far as business and the province, then now's your time to come and say hello and chat."
The Chamber is also preparing for its annual EBEX awards, celebrating some of the notable businesses in and around the city. Those awards are set for October 24th, with more information being released soon, according to Scarlett.
"We'll be announcing nominees in the next couple of weeks, but tickets are live now. They're $75 each, and you can get them on our website."
You can also head online and check out the award's Hall of Fame winners, which were recently updated.
Scarlett is also looking to hold a Lunch and Learn this September, hoping to teach local business owners skills with Custom Accounting & Tax Services.
"This is why I really like what the chamber does, which is that we can actually help our members get their services out there and even just practice being a leader and public speaking skills. So they approached us with a Lunch and Learn. They're paying for the lunch, so it's a free lunch; you have to be a member."
"They're talking about financial transformation and what that means. They're not looking to replace your bookkeeper or accountant. They're looking to talk to you about a service they offer that helps you find costs that you can save. So, in this time with tariffs, I know resources going up and down, you may be looking for just a tighter bottom line. This would be the place for you. You can come learn something, eat a free lunch. There's no obligation."
You can find more information on other future events held by the Estevan Chamber of Commerce on its website.
