The Estevan Bible Camp is getting ready to welcome families back to Corn Cob Junction, its annual corn maze and fall attraction. Director of Operations Shawn Bissonnette said the season kicks off Saturday, September 13, and will run weekends through to October 24.
“It’s not just a maze,” said Bissonnette. “We’ve got a climbing wall, a hayride, a scavenger hunt through the maze, delicious food, and a bunch of mini games to keep you entertained while you’re out there with the family.”
New additions this year include a large gazebo with a fire pit to help guests stay warm on cooler fall days. “We built this nice, huge gazebo, and the roof is actually a bin lid. We’re going to get a fire pit put in there, so when it gets colder, you can come warm up around the fire, maybe have some s’mores,” he explained.
Admission is $12 at the gate or $10 online. Bissonnette encouraged families to purchase tickets ahead of time to help organizers prepare. “It helps us know about how many people are going to be there every weekend, and it saves you a couple of bucks,” he said.
The event serves as a fundraiser for Estevan Bible Camp, with all profits supporting camp operations. “The cost that we charge families to come to camp, over half of that cost is being donated from supporters and people who are supporting fundraisers like this,” said Bissonnette. “So it helps a ton when people come out to our fundraisers and support us.”
The maze is located about 20 kilometres south of Roche Percee along Highway 39. Bissonnette added that the corn itself is looking great this year. “We got like six-foot corn throughout the whole maze, pretty much, which is awesome. You’re definitely going to get lost in there if you don’t know where you’re going.”
Along with Corn Cob Junction, the camp plans to host its Maze Blaze event once again this fall, a timed race through the maze featuring ATVs and off-road vehicles, with prizes for the top finishers.
