The tables will turn this week, as the prairie rivalry between the Saskatchewan Roughriders and the Winnipeg Blue Bombers as the two teams will meet at Princess Auto Stadium on Saturday.

Saskatchewan opened the 2025 season series with a thrilling 34-30 win on Sunday. With a win tomorrow, the green and white will clinch the season series between the two clubs.

Earlier this week, Riders Head Coach Corey Mace said the team is expecting a hostile environment in Winnipeg and the team is embracing it.

“As an opposing team going into, like, come on, man, that's what you want. That's the environment you want to be in.”

He added, “It feels like, it always feels like a big game when you, know, when you're a visitor versus a hostile crowd and a good team.”

There’s only one change to the Roughriders roster following Sunday’s victory as safety Jaxon Ford will miss the “Banjo Bowl” after starting last week. Ford was a late addition to the injury report this week with a knee injury. Taking his spot on the starting lineup will be Kosi Onyeka, as Nelson Lokombo continues to be sidelined with an ankle injury.

Wide receiver Mitch Picton will draw back into the lineup to replace Ford’s spot on the roster as the Roughriders will have an extra receiver at their dispersal.

One change that won’t be happening this week is the team’s kicker, as Brett Lauther remains in the lineup. The veteran kicker has struggled in 2025, with only a 65.7 field goal percentage.

Despite the struggles this year, Mace remains committed to Lauther but was asked this week if Lauther’s numbers this year meets the team’s standard.

“Certainly, in the totality of the season, no, not to his standard, not to our standard,” said the Roughriders Head Coach.

“In the same breath, looking at everything of what he's done and also different other circumstances.”

On the opposing sideline, the Blue Bombers will be making changes to the team’s receiving group as Dalton Schoen was placed on the six-game injured list with a torn ACL injury that will require season-ending surgery.

Winnipeg Head Coach Mike O’Shea said on Friday, that Schoen originally suffered the injury against the Calgary Stampeders and re-injured himself on Sunday against the Roughriders.

The Blue Bombers will have Ontaria “Pokey” Wilson back on their roster after he was recently released by the New York Jets.

Last year, Wilson had 71 receptions with 1,026 receiving yards in his rookie season with Winnipeg.

Saskatchewan heads into Saturday’s contest with a two-point lead over the Calgary Stampeders and are six points ahead of Winnipeg.

The final contest between the Roughriders and Blue Bombers will be back in Winnipeg on Friday, October 17.
