Country 94.1's Local Sports Live returns to the gridiron Friday afternoon at the Swift Current Comp. High School.

The Colts will host the Moose Jaw Peacock Tornadoes as they look to continue their winning start to the season.

Kye Griffin, punter, kicker, and defensive back for the Colts, said he's excited for the chance to begin the season with a 2-0.

"They lost a lot of their key players, and I think we've only grown as a football team," he said. "I think we're the favoured team going into this matchup today. I think we have lots of confidence going in, and if we execute and stay level throughout the game, we can get it done."

Swift Current beat Weyburn 21-6 in week one, while Peacock lost to Yorkton 22-7.

"We had lots of confidence going in, we knew we could do it, we just had to execute, and we did, so that felt good to win that," said Colts linebacker Jackson Gording-Dovell.

Country 94.1's Local Sports Live begins at 3:50 p.m. on Friday.

Sticking with local high school football, both the Gull Lake Lions and Maple Creek Redmen play their first contests Friday afternoon in the 6-man circuit after moving down from 9-man.

Gull Lake will visit Hanley, while Maple Creek hosts Unity.
