After a month-long hiatus, Weyburn City Council is returning to council chambers for a regular meeting this evening. The meeting will begin with the approval of four items on the consent agenda, the Cash Activity Report for July, the Planning and Development Report for July and August, and the Water Treatment Plan Report for August.
Council will then move on to take the first step in the budget process for 2026, by making a motion to approve the timeline for the budget's development. The proposed plan has the preliminary budget presented at the October 27th council meeting, an open house held sometime between October 28th to November 7th, and a budget discussion at the November 24th meeting.
Another item requiring a motion from Council is a tender received on 161 Laing Crescent, a property for sale by public tender. They’ll also make a motion on the sending of a letter requesting Consent of Title from the Provincial Mediation Board regarding two other local properties.
Tonight's meeting will also see council members give second reading to the proposed Council Code of Ethics Bylaw. This will implement a Code of Ethics policy specifically for members of council in accordance with The Cities Act that requires this of all Saskatchewan municipal councils.
Finally, council will look at a request by the Weyburn Utility Board to approve the hook up of two new residential water services.
The meeting will be at Weyburn City Hall tonight at 6 p.m., find the full agenda HERE. We will have the results from tonight's meeting for you tomorrow morning, on air and online.
