Some of the future of prairie women's hockey was on display in Swift Current over the weekend.
The Swift Current Innovation Federal Credit Union Wildcats hosted their home pre-season tournament.
It included Swift Current, Pilot Mound, Regina, Medicine Hat College, two teams of Saskatchewan U16 all-stars, plus a game between the University of Regina and University of Saskatchewan.
The Wildcats had seven APs in their lineup to cover for their players suiting up for the U16 teams.
Swift Current started the tournament in style with a 6-0 win over Pilot Mound on Friday evening.
Cabri's Sienna Watson scored twice, while Raela Packet, Reese Kampen, Stevie Christiaens, and Ella Schenher also scored for Swift Current.
Ashley Vezeau had the shutout for the Wildcats.
Packet then scored their lone goal as Swift Current dropped a tight 2-1 loss against an older team from Medicine Hat College on Saturday.
Abbey's Karli Duncan made 16 saves on 18 shots in the close loss for the Wildcats.
Packet and Schenher scored again on Sunday in a 2-1 Swift Current win over Regina.
Vezeau was strong making 23 saves on 24 shots.
The U16 teams played each other twice with each team winning once.
U16 Whtie also tied Regina 1-1, while U16 Green beat Pilot Mound 11-0.
The University of Saskatchewan Huskies beat the University of Regina Cougars in an exhibition game 3-2 on Saturday.
Swift Current is now off until September 27th when they play Weyburn in Assiniboia.
