They got the pre-season off to a great start! The Moose Jaw Warriors won both of their games against Swift Current on the weekend. Friday, the Warriors shutout the Broncos 2-0 and then took a 2-1 overtime victory Saturday night in Assiniboia. Goalie Josh Banini stopped 43 of 44 shots he faced and was named the game's first star. Connor Schmidt scored the winning goal. The Warriors will play the Pats, in Regina, tomorrow night.
Moose Jaw's Central Cyclones improved to 2 and 0 in local high school football action on the weekend. Central pounded Estevan 60-8. The Peacock Tornadoes improved to 1 and 1 with a 22-21 win over the Swift Current Colts.
In case you missed it, the Saskatchewan Roughriders went into Winnipeg and beat the Blue Bombers 21-13. The Riders are now 10 and 2 on the season. They'll host the Montreal Alouettes Saturday night at Mosaic Stadium.
And the Toronto Blue Jays dropped a 4-3 decision the Yankees in New York yesterday. The Yankees are now just 2 games behind the first place Jays in the American League east. The Jays have today off and will welcome the Houston Astros for a three-game series starting tomorrow night.
