Debbie Hustej

Life is Fleeing, time never stands Still.

Don’t spend you time grieving.

This is not my will.

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Debbie Hustej on September 3, 2025 at the age of 67, surrounded by her devoted family.

Debbie leaves behind her daughter Chelsea (Jason) Joa, along with their children Blaze and Rya;

Her son Evan (Chené) Hustej and their children Ayla and Deegan.

She will also be deeply missed by her brothers: George (Carol) Theisen and Neil (Shirley) Theisen;

Her sister Elaine (Owen) MacPherson;

Sisters-in-law: Mary Henderson, Susan Hustej, Sandy (Martin) Macri and Marie Hustej

Brother-in-law: Ronnie Hustej and by numerous nieces, nephews and cherished friends.

Debbie was predeceased by her beloved husband Pete; her parents Louis and Frances (née Schwingenschloeagl)  Theisen; sister Anna (Paul) Crozon; brother Orville Theisen; as well as numerous sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nephews and great-nephews.
Debbie grew up in Pilger and Middle Lake, where she attended school before moving to Saskatoon.

There she began her career in retail and met the love of her life, Pete Hustej.  The two were married in 1984 and spent their early years together in Saskatoon before making their home in  Annaheim.  Debbie worked for Doepker Industries and continued working for them while raising Chelsea and Evan.

After the passing of Pete, Debbie’s warmth, candid honesty, keen sense of humor and strong work ethic left a lasting impression   on her colleagues. She remained a valued member of the company for 28 years, retiring only when health challenges made it necessary.

In retirement, Debbie’s greatest joy came from her role as a grandmother.  She treasured her time with Rya, Blaze, Ayla and Deegan who along with Chelsea and Even were truly the light of her life.  Debbie was their biggest fan and confidant, supporting and guiding them to grow strong and right.

Debbie will be remembered for her kindness, her laughter, her determination and the deep love she gave so freely to her family and friends. Her legacy lives on in the hearts of all who were fortunate to know her.

REST IN PEACE DEBBIE.   You did great and are FOREVER LOVED!

You can shed tears that she is gone, or you can smile because she has lived.

You can close your eyes and pray that she’ll come back,

Or you can open your eyes and see all that she has left.

Your heart can be empty because you can’t see her,

Or you can be full of the love you shared.

You can turn your back on tomorrow and live yesterday,

Or you can be happy for tomorrow because of yesterday.

You can remember her and only that she is gone,

Or you can cherish her memory and let it live on.

You can cry and close your mind, be empty and turn your back,

Or you can do what she would want:

Smile, open your eyes, love and go on.

A Come & Go Gathering was held on Tuesday, September 9, 2025 from 2:00-5:00 p.m. from Humboldt Legion Hall.  A Private Family interment took place at St. Bernard’s Cemetery, Pilger.  Memorial donations in memory of Debbie can be made to Heart & Stroke Foundation or Canadian Lung Association: COPD.
