On Friday, July 4, 2025, at around 3:00 a.m., members of the Lacombe Police Service were conducting patrols in the industrial area of the 5500 Block of Wolf Creek Drive, adjacent to the police detachment. Officers observed three men and a large, unleashed dog near a GMC Sierra cube van.
A check of the license plate revealed the cube van had been reported stolen out of Edmonton.
All three suspects were arrested at the scene for possession of stolen property. During the arrest, a set of keys matching the stolen van was located in the front right pocket of one of the subjects.
Darcy Bannert, 43, of Sherwood Park, has been Charged with the following offenses:
• Possession of Stolen Property over $5,000
• Two Counts of Failing to Comply with Release Conditions
Greg Bowen, 61, of Edmonton, has been Charged with the following offenses:
• Possession of Stolen Property over $5,000
• Failing to Comply with Release Conditions
Jaimie Johnston, 41, of Fox Creek, , has been Charged with the following offenses:
• Possession of Stolen Property over $5,000
The three individuals were released on an undertaking with conditions, to appear in Red Deer Provincial court on September 10, 2025.
The stolen cube van has since been returned to its registered owner.
