High River and Foothills County Family and Community Support Services (FCSS) have launched a local loop transportation pilot project.

The Better Together Transportation Hop-On-Hop-Off Friday Bus Route stops at eight locations around High River between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. on Fridays.

The stops include Hi-wood Meadows Housing Co-Op, Sunvale Crescent, No Frills, Rec Centre, Charles Clark Medical Centre, Medicine Tree Manor, A-1 Convenience Store, and Tim Hortons NW.

The transportation service is designed to give High River and Foothills County residents a chance to hop on at any of the stops and run errands in High River.

The pilot project is possible through grant funding from  Healthy Aging Alberta.

The bus is free until Sept. 26, then fares for residents will be $5 per day, and $2 per day for low-income older adults who are eligible for a subsidy.

“As this is a pilot project, route stops and times may change from time to time as we adapt to community needs,” Foothills County FCSS said in a Facebook post.
