The Lyric Theatre was filled to bursting for the premiere of The Silver Scream.

The 17th Dead Prairies Productions film has a total run time of 1 hour 22 minutes, and was filled with thrills, chills, and more than a few terrified screams. The premiere was also completely sold out in the first 13 days of ticket sales, with 190 tickets sold.

Devon Oman, director, producer, and lead writer for Dead Prairie Productions, was blown away by the support for his horror anthology.

"I love hearing people's reactions," said Oman. "Even if it's just 'Oh, I don't trust gnomes anymore' or screaming or laughing, any reaction is a good reaction."

The movie is made up of a series of stories, being that of The Silver Scream, The Killer Snowman, and Gnomes of the Dead. The plot follows three women watching a new horror movie's exclusive premiere, and how the stories they are viewing tie back into their experience.

The incredible part of this 32-man cast production is that it's all accomplished on a budget of $172, with all of the proceeds going back into the SPCA Swift Current.

"All the ticket sales and merchandise proceeds go back to the SPCA<" said Oman. "We're definitely over $2,000 tonight, but we still need to get the total from merchandise sales."

Oman, throughout his film career, has donated what he estimated to be over $35,000 to the SPCA Swift Current.

"People don't maybe realize, but I do personal donations as well for the SPCA," said Oman. "So it's probably close to $50,000 to be honest."

This was the first time Dead Prairies Productions debuted a movie at The Lyric Theatre. The revenue from all concession sales went back into the Theatre, as well as the proceeds from the 50/50, as it is currently working towards a complete renovation of certain spaces.

Oman invites everyone to the next Dead Prairies Productions event, a double-feature horror movie showing at the SWT Lyceum Theatre in Gull Lake. People can catch both Weapons and Pet Cemetery on September 12.

"All for just 10 bucks," said Oman. "After that, we plan to host a showing of a movie called Good Boy."
