A 21-year-old has been charged after a woman was seriously assaulted before her death over the weekend.

At approximately 1:15 a.m. on September 6, officers from the East District responded to a condo complex in the 600 block of St. Anne’s Road for the report of a woman being seriously assaulted.

Officers found two victims outside when they arrived. Both had serious upper-body injuries.

A 46-year-old female was taken to the hospital in critical condition and succumbed to her injuries.

A 27-year-old female was taken to the hospital in unstable condition but has since been upgraded to stable condition.

Along with the assistance of the K9 Unit and AIR1, General Patrol officers searched the area and located the suspect in the 500 block of St. Anne's Road.

He was taken into custody and the Homicide Unit took over the investigation.

The 21-year-old was charged with:

  • Second Degree Murder
  • Aggravated Assault

Officers learned the suspect and the 46-year-old victim had a prior relationship. The other victim had no connection to the suspect and was randomly assaulted.
