The Weyburn Police Service welcomed an experienced constable into their ranks on Monday afternoon. Landon Seiferling, originally from Regina, is coming into the WPS with experience on the Saskatchewan Highway Patrol.
“I previously had some experience with security and public safety jobs. I was a community safety officer and then transitioned into my one year with Saskatchewan Highway Patrol and now the Weyburn Police Service."
Seiferling explains his transition to Weyburn stemmed from a preference for smaller communities, and family roots in the Weyburn area.
“My dad is originally from Francis and spent some time in Weyburn. I'm more inclined into the smaller cities. The big city is just a little bit too much for me so I wanted to kind of stick around my dad's roots, where he grew up. Ultimately, just following my dad's footsteps.”
Overall, his ambition for policing stems from a desire to protect the vulnerable. However, Seiferling says he has always had an interest in public safety and the work environment surrounding police work. He also looks forward to being a new face in the community.
“It's the adrenaline, it's the always changing environment. It's never the same day.”
“I want to be a new friendly face in the city, a face that people can remember to call when they need help, or they just simply want to have somebody to talk to. I'm going to do my best to be there for everybody.”
Seiferling expresses his appreciation for his fellow officers at the WPS for welcoming him into their ranks and anticipates beginning his service to the Weyburn community.
